James and Stacy Castor

Ten years ago we were in a car wreck and Jamie was in the hospital for two weeks. We got cards in the mail with no address but the post office made sure they found us, says Stacy Castor. People mowed our yard, brought us food. That's part of what this community is all about.

There is a whole group of neighbors who will lend a hand and do what has to be done, adds Dr. Castor. You may get that from a small group or neighborhood in larger city, but here it is everybody, even those people you don't know well.

I tell my girls, 'If you are thinking about going out and getting in trouble, it will get home to me before you do.' Everyone watches all the kids to make sure they stay safe. I've lived in Indy and Lafayette. Having been in those communities, I wouldn't want to raise my girls any place other than here.

It was easier for Jamie to get acclimated because he was working here, says Stacy. Once we started going to church it was easier. Ladies from church with kids my age would invite me to do things. If you have school-age kids, you are thrown right in to it.

People here are raised to care.

Jamie Castor purchased his dentistry practice in November 1991. He moved his familyto Remington in December 1993 after getting tired of the commute from Lafayette. Today he has a thriving practice, offering dental services including orthodontics and oral surgery. Stacy is an active volunteer at school and in the community. They have two daughters, Jessica and Jennifer.
